Trip Length Policy

Purpose

To establish a policy where complementary ADA paratransit passenger ride times are comparable to fixed route trip times on Sun Tran. Sun Van trip times should be kept to a minimum for passenger safety and comfort, to the extent possible.

Policy

Sun Van maintains the technological capability to compare the travel time (origin to destination) of a proposed paratransit trip to a similar trip aboard the Sun Tran fixed route system. The calculated comparison time on the fixed route system would include actual time on board the bus, walk time to/from transfer points and anticipated wait time. Sun Van will assure a travel time of not more 110% of the comparable fixed route trip from origin to destination for each ADA-eligible passenger trip. Premium Service trips cannot be guaranteed to meet this standard.
